Hello! We are Zack and Toni Keniston, the current stewards of Ironwood Swamp right here in Grand Rapids, MI.
Both originally Michigan natives, we returned to the state in 2022 after 10 years traveling and moving around the southeast parts of the country. Zack's work took us all over from Atlanta to Raleigh. During that time, we had our 2 beautiful children and had 8 moves! It was a busy time of our lives, full of growth.
But as we settled into our newly completed home just outside Raleigh, we both felt that we were putting roots down in a place that didn't feel right to us.
After just 13 months, we packed up our 9th and (hopefully) final Uhaul and moved home to Michigan.
With the help of an exceptional realtor, we bought Ironwood Swamp sight unseen and the rest is beautiful history.
In the past 2 years, we have focused on bringing fresh life to this property by creating new gardens to grow our own food, repairing fences and wells that were original to the property, and starting the process to remove invasive species found amongst the wetlands.
Our journey to cultivate a magical thriving eco-system here on the Ironwood Swampstead is just beginning! We hope you'll follow along!
